GCSEs can be a stressful and difficult time for many students. There is a lot they need to learn and remember for each subject and students in schools are being regularly assessed each term. A lot of students can find this time in their lives very high pressure and hard to manage. Time management is a very important skill to learn alongside organisation in terms for preparing them for each subject’s exam.
Online and In-Person Tutoring
I offer tutoring either in-person or online. With my GCSE students, either works. However, at some point during their GCSE years, I like to meet with my Year 10 and 11 students to help them organise their physical notes into folders in preparation for when they start to properly revise in their own time too. I would recommend an hour minimum each week for tutoring; if it is any less, it is difficult for me to effectively cover the curriculum. Some students find more than an hour a week beneficial, but others feel they like the balance of an hour of guidance from me, alongside some of their own revision. It really depends what works best for your child.
Covering both the AQA and Edexcel Syllabuses
If your son or daughter is currently studying towards the AQA English GCSE then I highly recommend reading my blog post AQA English GCSE – What you need to know. This blog post shares further information on the curriculum areas I can work on with your child.
I have also taught Edexcel to previous students; this exam board is structured slightly differently to AQA in the sense that with each different text (19th Century, Shakespeare, etc) there are two questions – one on themes, quotes, plot and ideas within the text, and the other question is context based. If your child is following the Edexcel exam board with their school, then please do get in touch with further questions. I will give you further details upon hearing from you.
Let’s Talk
I thoroughly enjoy preparing students for their GCSEs; it is an extremely rewarding experience to work one-to-one with your child through this important time in their life and see them develop and progress in time for their exams. I really do look forward to hearing from you if you have any questions or if you are interested in me tutoring your son or daughter. My contact details can be found in the footer.
